International City Dubai

The International City is located in the Al Warsan region of Dubai. This is about 9 kilometers/5 miles away from the Dubai International Airport. The area covers 800 hectares, and includes businesses, residences, shopping complexes and other tourist attractions. Once completed, the International City will have six different areas. These areas are the following: Forbidden City, Lake District, Residential District, Dragon Mart, Dubai Design Center and Central District.

The Forbidden City

Once completed this 240,000 square meter area will look like the ancient Forbidden City located in Beijing, China. It will have residential accommodations and retail stores.

Lake District

A total of 1375 apartments will be built in this area surrounding the Al Warsan Lake.

Dubai Design Center

The Dubai Design Center will be home to two hotels for visitors in International City. It will also display permanent and temporary design exhibitions as well.

Central District

This area of International City will be used for independent developers who can have shops or offices there.

Dragon Mart

Currently one of the main attractions of the International City is the Dragon Mart area where you can buy wholesale purchases of Chinese products. The design of the building looks like a colorful dragon, with the head serving as the main entrance. It is open to the public and is a great place to find souvenirs to take home with you.

Residential District

The Residential District will include apartments designed after the architecture from 10 different places around the world. The ten districts will be modeled after China, England, France, Persia, Greece, Russia, Spain, Morocco, Italy and the Emirates. The district will accommodate more than 60,000 people.

France District

The France District is influenced by Parisian architecture from places like Versailles. The buildings are fitted with long French windows, and red and grey bricks.

Persia District

This district is in the central part of the residential building. The architectural style includes Islamic Domes, blue color facades and arches.

Spain District

These buildings are modeled after houses in Spain with a stucco exterior.

Russia District

This area contains four buildings and includes foundations and gardens.

Greece District

The Greece District feature elements from Greek architecture like tiled roofs, balconies and Doric columns.

China District

This district neighbors Dragon Mart in the International City.

Emirates District

The style of this district is reflective of the landscape surrounding Dubai.

England District

Victorian and Revivalist style buildings can be seen in the English District of the International City.

Morocco District

Stucco exteriors and arched windows are the defining architectural elements in the Morocco District.

Italy District

The Italy District features two, three and four storey buildings fitting with terracotta roofs, which are typically found in Italy.
