Dubai Marina

Dubai Marina Overview

The Dubai Marina is a popular district in Dubai. The marina is a man-made and was developed by Emaar Properties and designed by HOK Canada.

One of the most distinctive features of the Dubai Marina is its many super tall skyscrapers. These skyscrapers range from 820 feet/250 meters to 984 feet/300 meters. Many of these buildings display a structurally unique style of architecture, such as the Cayan Tower—also known as the twisted tower.

Another defining characteristic of the Dubai Marina is the Dubai Marina Walk, which is a 4 mile/7 km walkway lined with shops, cafes and restaurants. This area is very popular for its Al Fresco style dining. Throughout the year there are also events at the Marina Walk such as art nights and the Marina Market.

The Dubai Marina is home to the Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR) which is a waterfront community located by the Persian Gulf. The development contains 40 towers (35 residential and 5 hotels). The towers can accommodate around 15,000 people at any given time. The six residential blocks are called: Shams, Amwaj, Rimal, Bahar, Sadaf and Murjan.

Bluewaters Island

The Bluewaters Island is a project currently underway off the JBR coastline. The Bluewaters Island will be a man-made island including entertainment, hospitality, residential and retail areas. The Dubai Eye, a 689 feet/210 meter giant Ferris wheel, will also be on the Bluewaters Island. The Ferris wheel will have the capacity to carry up to 1,400 passengers in 49 capsules.

Dubai Marina transportation

The marina is conveniently located near the Red Line of the Dubai Metro. The closest station is called Dubai Marina station which is in walking distance to the Dubai Marina.

There is also a tramway under construction that will run along Al Sufouh Road from the Dubai Marina to the Burj Al Arab and the Mall of the Emirates.
