Dubai Souks

Dubai souks overview

A trip to Dubai wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the traditional souks. Dubai is home to several souks, each selling items from both near and afar. Haggling at the souks is commonplace and usually amounts to a considerable drop in price of an item. Below is a list of the top souks in Dubai.

Top souks in Dubai

Gold Souk
Dubai is the ideal place to buy gold jewelry—particularly at the Gold Souk. Hundreds of shops sell intricate pieces of gold jewelry including earrings, bangles and necklaces. The shops usually also feature pieces made with silver and precious stones. If you want something with less of a price tag, many of the shops sell unique costume jewelry as well. The Gold Souk is located near the Dubai Creek in Deira.

Textile Souk
The textile souk is the place to go if you are looking for tailor made clothing, beautiful fabrics, or ready-to-wear clothing. This souk sells everything from fabrics such as silk or cotton to cashmere scarves. Be prepared to haggle for prices here as shop owners generally start by quoting a high price. This souk is located in Bur Dubai and is just a short walk away from the Al Fahidi historic district.

Spice Souk
The Spice Souk is a must see for foodies. Fresh exotic spices and herbs are plentiful at the souk including cinnamon, saffron, turmeric, chili, cloves and cardamom. There are also dried fruits, dates, nuts, rice and other food staples available for purchase as well. The souk is just a short walk from the Gold Souk.

Souk Madinat
Souk Madinat is one of the newer souks in Dubai. It is located in the Madinat Jumeirah Resort. The souk features shops, stands, and stalls that sell everything from jewelry to art. There are several wonderful restaurants located close to the souk including smaller cafés and high-end restaurants.

Souk Al Bahar
Souk Al Bahar is located in Downtown Dubai across from the Dubai Mall. The souk can be accessed through a walkwalk via the Dubai all. There are over 100 shops inside selling items ranging from handicrafts to home furnishings.
