Expo 2020 overview
Dubai is set to host the World Expo in the year 2020. The theme for the Dubai Expo will be “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future.” The sub-themes for Expo 2020 will be Sustainability, Mobility and Opportunity. This will be the first World Expo held in the Middle East region. It will open on October 20th 2020 and end on April 10th 2021. It is predicted that Expo 2020 will be visited 25 million times, with 70% of visitors coming from outside of the UAE.
Expo 2020 logo
The idea for the Expo 2020 logo came from an ancient archaeological site located in the desert in Dubai. The site is called Sarouq Al Hadeed. At the site, over 1,000 objects have already been found. Archeologists state that this site was clearly a place of connection—where people from many different regions gathered together. One of the most unique discoveries at the site were a series of gold rings. The Expo 2020 logo was inspired by these gold rings. You can learn more in this video:
Expo 2020 location and master plan
The main site for Expo 2020 will be located midway between Dubai and Abu Dhabi, adjacent to the Al Maktoum International Airport.
Expo 2020 will all be connected through the Al Wasl plaza. There will be three souk areas connected to the Al Wasl plaza. Each of the souk areas will represent one of the sub-themes of Expo 2020. There will also be a Performance Park, Children’ Park, UAE Pavilion and Expo Village.
