Historic Places in Dubai

Bastakia Quarter/Al Fahidi Fort
The Bastakia Quarter is one of Dubai’s historic districts. The neighborhood is home to art galleries, cafes and historic buildings, including the Al Fahidi Fort. The fort was constructed in 1787 and is located at the south end of the Dubai Creek. The Dubai Museum is located within the Al Fahidi Fort. The museum gives visitors the chance to learn about the history of Dubai.

Heritage House
The Heritage House was established in 1890 by Mr. Matar Saeed bin Mazina. Here visitors can see many historical items from Dubai. It is located in the Al Ras area in Deira.

Camel Museum
The Camel Museum is located in the Al Shindgha area of Dubai. At the museum, visitors can learn about why camels have always been an integral part of life in Dubai.

Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum House
The Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum house is located in the Al Shindagha area in Bur Dubai. The house was constructed in 1896. The Al Maktoum ruling family lived at the residence until 1958. Now, visitors can visit the house to learn about the history of Dubai as well as the story of the ruling family.

Al Ahmadiya School
The Al Ahmadiya School was the first semi-formal private school in Dubai. It was founded in 1912 by Sheikh Ahmed bin Dalmouk. It is now managed by the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority.

Coins Museum
The Coins Museum is located in the Al Fahidi neighborhood. Visitors of the museum can see more than 470 rare coins from various historical eras.
