Extreme Fog Covers Dubai Causing Flight Delays, Accidents, and Traffic Jams
Heavy fog blanketed Dubai early Thursday morning which reduced visibility to less than 50 meters. Multiple accidents were reported along Al Khail Road, Airport Road as well as Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Road. The fog also covered Dubai International Airport and Al Maktoum International Airport causing major delays.
The Dubai Road and Transport Authority advised motorists to be drive slowly and take extra care on the roads. Winds are expected to pick up over the sea during the afternoon which may cause dust to be blown over some areas and reduce visibility as well. The relative humidity is expected to increase during Thursday night and Friday morning. The National Center for Meteorology and Seismology stated that the sea will be rough in the Arabian Gulf with winds speed reaching up to 40 km/hr and waves as high as 7 feet offshore.
